Nandi the bull is Lord Shiva’s mount. In front of all Shiva Temples Nandi sits outside facing Shiva, serving as the eternal watchman of The Lord.
This piece is part of a series of vahana sculptures. Most Hindu deities have an animal that they ride (vahana) and are associated with.
Nandi is made from welded sheet metal steel that was treated with tan patina as well solvent dye, and painted with oil enamel. It is made to hang off of the wall and measures 4 ft wide by 3 ft tall x 1 foot deep.
